Caption: West of Grande Prairie, NAR ran a thrice-weekly wayfreight to Dawson Creek, BC, west Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and returning the next day, almost always with a single GP9. Here, No. 51 engine 206 on Wednesday 1977-09-21 has three Hart cars of ballast and four empties plus caboose 13006 and is passing the Foster’s elevator at Albright, with 54.8 miles yet to go to Dawson Creek.
Note the green reflectorized target on the switchstand, not centred on the shaft as is common, but offset to the side of the diverging track, an NAR standard that simply makes so much sense.
