Everyone remembers their first cab ride and my son, Matthew, got to experience his first today while doing it in style!!! Matthew can be seen in the window of the recently rebuilt and repainted Essex Terminal Railway SW1200 #105. 105 is the last original, purchased new, unit on the ETR roster, and thanks to the good people at the ETR who appreciate their history, it has been repainted into their 'as delivered' scheme and sits outside their Lincoln Road shop here. Thank you to the ETR for inviting Matthew and myself in to take photos and ride along for a bit. Photo taken on Private Property with permission.

  1. That certainly was nice of them. Young feller will never forget this.

  2. Wonderful ! Father and son sharing an experience that neither will forget ! That little face peering out the cab window is so cute. And the paint job is very impressive. Thanks to ETR staff for making this possible and thank you Geoff for posting, John

  3. Nice to see another “Heritage Unit” around!

Curious why this unit has two bells: one in the standard EMD position on the hood, and another tucked beside the front truck under the frame.

  4. As part of the ‘restoration’ the ETR requested that a new bell be put in the original location to make the unit look as close to as delivered as possible. Both bells are functional on the unit now.
