And if you want the black stuff in Ontario today, you really gotta go here. On their 2'nd weekend of operations after COVID, pictured is Train #6 arriving at the shop to be put away for the day with WCR S-13 1001 (former OSR 501) puffing the good stuff that makes Greenpeace cry. Waterloo Central operates six movements per day, Trains #1 through Train #6 (Odd are southward movements, Even northward) on Saturdays. Starting Tomorrow they're going to begin Sunday operations from this station to Elmira using a restored RDC painted in a CP inspired scheme. Truth be told, the alcos/MLW's are quickly becoming museum pieces and if you can find any operating in freight service, consider yourself lucky.

  1. Nice! I really wish I could have got action shots before I left. I predict they’ll paint up the GMD1 in the CN olive green and gold (which I hope they do). They did a great job with their equipment – a railway jewel for Waterloo Region that’s for sure.

  2. Very worthy of a visit this Fall! They’ve accumulated an interesting assortment of equipment. Great shot Steve! If I could use the opportunity to ask, where are you off to Kevin? Back to your wife’s homeland?

  3. Indeed. We have skating every Saturday at Rim Park nearby (about 8 mins away) so it’s easy pickings for me to go have a look. Going to be like this for a few more months so I should get all the seasons and all the equipment eventually.

  4. Very nice! Will have to head up this way soon!

  5. Neat view with 1437.

Interesting about their train # designations too.
