Heading to Halifax! F40PH-2 6438 leads the REI-weekly VIA Rail Canada Train 14 (Ocean) is departing Gare Central in Montreal, QC heading to Halifax, NS on the evening of Friday, August 24, 2018. The “Renaissance Class” cars were built by Metropolitan-Cammell in 1995-1996, and number 139 in the VIA fleet. The towers used to carry catenary for Canadian National before it was cut back to Gare Central.

  1. Very good picture Marc. This is the first picture of east bound Ocean which nicely shows the Renaissance car portion of the Ocean’s consist. Can’t quite make out the first car behind the 2 F40PH-2’s but am assuming it could be a Renaissance transition-baggage car. Very interesting to see the catenary towers from CN electric commuter operation days are still in existence. Will they be used by RER for its entrance to Central Station, or are they to be removed ?
