Caption: CNR 6167 is seen here in Guelph's XV yard, cold and dead during it's first retirement. Note the main rod laying on the running board. Within the year, the crews at CNR's Stratford Shops will get to work overhauling the engine for use on excursion trips, turning her out looking as good as new. Almost a year to the day later on July 10, 1960, 6167 can be seen on one of the first excursions at Niagara Falls.
Having spent most of her career (1940 - 1959) based out of Turcot Yard in Montreal in the passenger pool, operating east to the Maritimes, 6167 had been transferred to the Mimico freight pool early in 1959 (note all black, no white grab irons or whitewalls) and retired a few months later*. Her excursion service would cover 1960 - 1964, logging over 1 million miles. *Information per John Mills.
