Looking more like a granger, surrounded by fertile farmers fields and elevators in the background. CN 568 storms westward out of the dip at Shakespeare after serving a local elevator. The sight of two GP40's working together on a local in 2021 is not such a common sight, so very much welcomed this day. The train has been well delay this day by track work west of Kitchener so will need a fresh crew before departing Stratford for Kitchener.

  1. Nice one!

  2. Looks like they had a decent sized train that day. Excellent photo.

  3. This is great ! And I’ll bet the sound was music to your ears !

  4. This is a nice shot, but GP40′s on locals are not that hard to get. Shot ‘em on 554, on tonnes of locals in Sarnia, a few on the Guelph sub have had ‘em over the years including ex GO, and Hamilton’s even had a few.

Even in pairs.. Sarnia had a pair in CNNA paint for the longest time.

What time did they depart Kitchener Marcus?

  5. Agreed that CN GP40′s are definitely not rare but their numbers have certainly shrunk significantly over the years. We were told by a railfan they departed close to 1om but rail replacement delayed everything that day forcing a crew change in Stratford around 19:90

  6. Wild. Well, if the 7600/7601 are any indication, the 38′s will become 40′s in due time, if they decide to order more :)

  7. Interesting considering the number of GP40′s out there converted to GP38′s then we have CN doing the opposite.

  8. Nicely framed up with the old pole line. Well done.

  9. Nicely framed with the old pole line. Well done.
