I recently posted a shot of CP TH21 westbound at Depew Street in Hamilton on the CP Beach Branch, and now offer a view of a CP TH21 westbound at Depew Street on the CN N&NW Spur. Same crossing, different tracks and view. In this particular instance, they are shoving back onto their own rails after pulling ahead on the N&NW Spur to pull the interchange.

  1. Great light.

  2. Thanks Steve. I recall this day well. Was at home watching TV and saw the western sky had cleared up quite well so went out to see what I could find. First stop was Ottawa Street.

  3. Not sure if it really matters, but date should actually read 04/17/2021. At this time there was no TH21 on Wednesdays (which is what April 21 was), so I guess it does matter a little in that sense.

  4. And a detail I forgot to mention, the CN 1500 Yard Job was actually right behind me, on the west side of the crossing, waiting for CP to clear out of the way. Nothing I could do with it photo-wise, but was one of those fun things you get to see.

  5. Love it – the number of SOR/CP and CN/CP meets I’ve seen at Ottawa St/Depew St is awesome. Some on camera, some I could only wish it was aligned properly.

I can only imagine in the Dofasco/TH&B/CN days there were three way meets…

  6. Haha yeah I know what you mean. It definitely is the place for meets. Some are so painfully close, yet so far away. Have even had crews ask a few days later “must have been a cool meet shot the other night eh?” If only you’d actually met properly, it sure would have been. :)
