Caption: Definitely not one of the best lit slides I have ever taken but considering the situation this day shooting in the pouring rain was a must. At the time for the past few weeks the NS 327/328 trains were somewhat sporadic, some days running, some days not and others just light power. Knowing there were two sets of power the day before in St. Thomas, and hearing NS may only run a train or two before the end of service in only a few days, I took the gamble and headed out to Hamilton Junction. As the rain poured down I did the best I could to cover both camera and video camera. NS 328 was very slow moving this day considering it had four borrowed UP units. It turned out to be the longest train 328 I ever shot at near to 120 cars. As it turned out I believe NS 327/328 may have run only a couple more times with only a few cars or just light power. It was sad to witness the event with so much history behind these NS trains all coming to an end. CN would handle the traffic after this but only for a couple more years as the writing was on the wall for the old Ford assembly plant in Talbotville as production soon came to an end and the plant was closed and eventually demolished. Things just are not the same around St. Thomas, the one time railroad capital of Canada.
