After seeing a bit of commentary below Mr. Host's "freezing cold" but gorgeous image of that plough train at Stratford and the 4001 in consist; I thought I would dig up a photo of when that unit first arrived in Ontario. Just a photo for those who follow the GEXR, here is Lakeland & Waterways #4001 as third unit behind CN 2634 and 2517 on a Toronto-bound manifest train as seen from an overpass just north of Parry Sound.
Lakeland & Waterways was taken over by CN in 2006 after having been a RailLink line since 1997.

  1. That’s pretty neat to see. I remember when 4001 arrived on GEXR.

  2. I always like pictures from the Parry Sound area. Just wondering if this was taken from what used to be the Hwy 69 overpass of the Bala Sub (now called Nobel Rd.) ? This would’ve been just north of the North Parry siding (now removed).

  3. You got it. Nice and quiet on that road now.
