Mild February weather has brought out the work train to continue with track re-hab. In the usual position next to the caboose is Jordan Spreader 50971. Could not resist a roster shot with the sun shining in clear sky. Photo taken at Kerensky, the siding is in the foreground, 9:00 in the morning.

  1. A photo well worth taking.

  2. Yes … very nice. Great weathering as well.

  3. I love how much glass there is in the cab. High visibility for sure. :-)
    Thanks guys.

  4. I’m glad you could not resist a roster shot. :-) A fabulous photo of a classic piece of Work Equipment! CN 50971 is a Jordan Type A spreader, serial number 8xx, built in August 1956. It features a low front blade, articulated wings (tips missing), front cab, raised rear deck, and air cylinder operation.
A view from inside the cab (of sister machine CN 50948) showing the forward and side visibility can been see in this photo I snapped on August 13, 2015 at CN Mac Yard in Concord, ON http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=20703

  5. Thanks for the spreader info and cab shot link Paul. It is one of the more unusual looking railroad items, particularly when the arms are extended. That truck catches the eye with no structure around it. Meanwhile, up at the front, is there even a truck there? :-)
