Caption: Just what we need. A winter scene to relieve the thoughts of stifling humidity these days. This image was taken in Centralia, in the depths of winter. GEXR 179 with x-CN plough 55437 has just cleared the line to end of track, not too far south of this view. A lone car was picked up and will be dropped at Hensall.
I don't believe there is any rail activity thru this village any more. When I visited here last spring, it looked abandoned. Rust and weeds was about the size of it.
The "station" is now gone. The fact you can see it in the background, with its covered in front; is the clue to the location of this photo. I would assume the old building was used for storage. Centralia's business days with the railway have been left behind.

Track is still in place and could yet get service. If customer and company can agree to minimum volumes they are willing to reopen the line. But that hasn’t happened yet.
Another classic Arnold! If you search for Centralia here on rp.ca, you should come across my photo shot approx. 8 years later. The GEXR erected a sign, and there is a fresh pile of dirt in the foreground where the station stood. After talking with a resident, it appears the station was demolished about two months prior to my visit.
“Missed it by that much…!”
Pretty awesome photo.
For a minute I thought the bulk head was used as a back up plow, LoL.
Great image as always!
So Arnold did you chase this plow with the action???
