The poor old Dresden station dating from the days when Pere Marquette ruled the line thru here was already boarded up and awaiting its' fate when I visited back in late 1976. I understand it survived; at least for awhile........relocated to be a restaurant but affected by fire......current status unknown. Possibly long gone.
Of course information would be appreciated.

  1. Was this located at the junction of the dresden belt line spur? (Still in place?)

Did you check out the spur? I believe it ran in or beside streets thru town : water and metcalfe st

  2. Don’t remember where the station was. I should have taken notes back in my rookie years. There still is a spur in town, but no switch stand that I saw. Everything is overgrown along what I guess was the track where it crossed the main road. We stopped because there was still a whistle post there.

  3. Looking at a google map; the spur branched off at the south end of town just to the left of Hwy 21 (Community Rd). Went straight for a mile or more. Going north into town on #21 we saw the Whistle Post for the Shepherd Dr crossing on our left.

  4. Probably right at the little lot at North St. Matches perfectly. The downs behind it.

  5. I agree !! :o )

  6. Is that your car the right Mr Mooney? I think someone made the reference to the film ‘Zodiac’. Ha. Great station history as always as well as your other historical pics and info.

  7. Yep. You can see how dark it was. Parking lights on. Cougar (Mercury) 1976.
