Caption: Brunner is a small community in the Township of Perth East and was situated at Mile 11.5 of CN’s Newton Subdivision in Perth County, Ontario.
Spring is in fact here during April 1996 as CN 4140 and 4115 slowly pass the Yantzi Feed & Seed facility in the heart of Brunner as they haul the empty rail train towards Palmerston on the Newton Subdivision with the final destination of the town of Harriston. The train and its foremen are preparing to flag Highway #19, which is the main road through the town.
Today if you look on Google Maps street view more than two decades later, this area looks surprisingly similar, minus the railway of course.

MOST interesting. Great shot, and..thanks!
Thanks Arnold.
As of this week the elevator still stands, though all but one wall of the office and structures at right have been demolished. Last trace of the railway in Brunner will soon be the old CN No Trespassing sign in the field across the street.
Yantzi’s was founded in 1958 and remained family owned until 2019, when purchased by Trouw Nutrition (Shur-Gain Feeds). The site was recently purchased by local brothers who intend to build a shop in the future, once they finish removing the elevator. Under the new ownership, Yantzi operations have been consolidated to the elevator in Tavistock.
This is history. Great shot Jason.
