While not the most colourful paint scheme for a leased unit, the fact that these were all former CN SD40's was enough to push me to photograph as many as possible. This morning when I arrived at Oakville yard this lone SD40-3 was finishing up working the south service track, I wasn't sure if it was a small version of train 435 or just a unit left in the yard by an overnight train. After a few shots I raced to Burlington West where I found a nicely placed snow pile. It is always nice to work your car into photos from time to time to look back on, LOL. I believe the station was nearing the end of its restoration by this date only to be relocated and restored again years later. I love this station and miss getting track side photos with it.

  1. I loved being able to catch one of these leaders, for I knew they would not be around long. Only managed to do so a half dozen times at best. This is very nice shot.

  2. It was nice to see many of them continuing their careers elsewhere and still out there earning their keep today.
