The centennial celebrations of the Province of B.C.'s becoming a Crown Colony in 1858 were marked by a visit of Princess Margaret to the Province. Upon leaving Vancouver for Banff, the CPR provided the Princess with a 9 car special, including one dome & two business cars, which special train is seen here, July 29, 1958, on the shores of Shuswap Lake, 72 miles east of Kamloops. Waiting behind spiked switches, all opposing passenger trains cleared X E 1433 by one hour, freight trains by 5 hours.
