This spot just west of Liverpool along the first stretch of the York Sub was my favourite place to watch trains as a kid, as I grew up in a house just a short walk from here. Back during the early 2000's you could still see some second generation diesels in their last years of leading mainline freight trains. I was too young at the time to get any pictures, besides one crappy shot of an ex-MoPac SD40-2, and suddenly I lost my chance when my family moved us two towns away a decade or so ago. I hadn't thought to come back until late last year, which is when I snapped this photo of CN Q147 starting up the hill on its way to Toronto. Winter was near and it's apparent with the long shadows cast by the train despite it only being just after 1pm!

  1. I am sure if you were on that bridge as a kid and were waving at the trains as they passed that I most definitely waved back or blew the horn as I went by. That was my old stomppin grounds on the rails.

  2. Awesome shot Adam! Interesting to see how much has changed over the years too
