Rounding the bend on the Fibreglass spur, 583 is reversing past the Biltmore Hats condos in the last good rays of sunlight before shadows take over as they head to the Owens Corning plant. Rolling past a gaggle of brownfield sites rapidly converting to housing, Guelph's St Patricks ward, once the low income part of town (which I lived in in its prime), is rapidly gentrifying and soon the railway will have hundreds of neighbors to contend with. As the train reverses toward the plant, it encounters a bit of a climb up then descends down toward the factory as it is located beside the Speed River, the lowest point in town. Many of the Ward's factories and warehouses have converted to housing and no doubt more conversions are coming, but Fibreglass continues operations in 2021 in a nod to decades past where railway customers were everywhere. At least GJR can say every inch of track is still in service on their railway.

  1. Nice touch with the rise in the track and last of the sun.

  2. Thanks eh! Can’t argue with that light…. it just happened like that!
