This looks like #44/54. The third-last visible car is a Club-Galley, and the second-last visible car is a 3000-series Cafe-Coach. This is where the split is made in Brockville. The lead section would head to Ottawa with this power as #44, and then power waiting behind the station (from #55 earlier) would couple on to the remaining cars and head for Montreal as #54. There is likely at least one more car out of frame – #54/55 operated with a baggage on the rear.
I love these units. The saddest ride behind one was on the Napa Valley Wine Train because the bad track limited them to about 15 miles an hour.
WONDERFUL PHOTO! Just the way I remember it from my childhood, on every trip there with my Grandpa. You’ve made my day Arnold!!! Pleasant memories
Thats good. I knew you would get around to seeing this shot sooner or later!! )
EX VIA 6773 and another unit went the Grand Canyon RR.in Arizona. From what I can see on google earth both are out of service & stored. I last saw 6773 at the station in Williams AZ, She looked real good and had 3 cars & a steam generator behind her.
Thanks, James. Someday, I will get there. Ran out of time last trip west.
I would love to post at least one picture of EX VIA 6773 but this site will not allow it & I understand why! I spent some military time in the Kingston area from 1959 to 1962. Saw a lot but never took pictures & should have. Your picture was great! Really enjoyed it!
You and me too, James. A lot of Canadian power has ended up south of the border…..
A great picture Arnold. John Mellow tells me his family owned a general store across the street from the beautiful historical station. Thanks for sharing.
