Caption: Its been 17 years since the final run of the Amtrak/VIA Toronto – Chicago International on Friday, April 23, 2004. Here the westbound 685 is seen crossing Mill Street in Baden on the run to Chicago. At this time the train had been running over the Guelph subdivision for less than a year, having been shifted to the north mainline from the Oakville/Dundas subs on January 15, 1990. F40PH 359 (built Dec. 1980) leads this day’s train made up of mostly Horizon cars plus one Amfleet I coach. Note the second car wears the narrow stripe phase iii scheme while the others wear the wide stripe phase iii scheme. While the 359 is long gone from Amtrak’s roster the Horizon and Amfleet cars still make up much of the fleet.

Wild image. So much has changed in Baden here since. There is a plaza to the left of the train where those fields are.
