Nice shot, just south of Glenfraser siding. Southbound train handling at Glenfraser was tricky descending nearly 2 percent grade at the north end of Glenfraser and then a “flat spot” of 0.4 percent and then plunging down again of almost 2 percent. Timing had to be right to start pulling on the train over the flat spot or in the worst case having to release the air brakes and then grab the air again. Short heavy trains were the worst to handle through here.
Thanks for that info and it’s great to have some first hand knowledge attached to the photo. The trains were so slow in either direction between Lillooet and Pavilion that we were able to shoot the same train in several different locations as they made their way up and down the hill. Great times and fond memories.
A treat to see solo – thanks for sharing, Joe.
