Caption: Southbound CN train seen passing the old Foleyet VIA waiting kiosk, as it slows in for a stop. Lead unit is Connell Finance Co's GEC Alstom locomotive #6044, which is on lease to CN. This unit was a former CN SD40 #5143, which was then sold, went for a rebuild in 1997 and emerged as an SD40-3. Trailing unit is IC 6255. I'm wondering if the old tower is still standing.............

Nice photo and it appears on Google Earth the tower is still standing.
Thanks. It should be painted up: “Welcome To Foleyet” !!
And here I thought you were trying to capture that Work Equipment Crew Crane Transporter and trailer in the background!
The unit barely visible behind the 6044 is a Plasser MPMV (Multi Purpose Maintenance Vehicle), or CCT (Crew Crane Transporter) as they were commonly known. The running number is likely CN 433-14. These types of track maintenance machines were once a common workhorse on the Ruel and Caramat Subdivisions in the 1980′s and 90′s.
Arnold, thanks for sending me that 2nd photo from your Foleyet trip. I was able to zoom in and see that the CCT behind the locomotive was in fact CN 433-11 and not CN 433-14.
O-o-o-o-kay…………birds of all feathers on this viewing site.
Fortunately so far no outhouse maintainers telling me I missed something. )
Can confirm that tower still stands, along with others of it’s kind at Fire River, Washago, and South River. I believe these are the last 4 on the NOD (East of Armstrong anyway) if not in Ontario but could be wrong. I’d expect Washago or South River to come down first both being closer to the ROW and riddled with exposed rebar.
As far as wraps go, have you seen the fugly wrap on the station water tower in Washago? I rest my case Lol.
You’ve just insulted all the kindergarten kids in Washago!!!!:o)
Yeah, I saw it last fall when we stopped by. I agree with you, but that was an ugly tower to begin with.
Nice shot, enjoy seeing this on the top of the page.
