For three years, more or less, we were treated to a twice daily Canadian on the Kingston Subdivision

And at that time it was strange....and given the past year (2020) – and future year? ….that routing was just plain weird *

A high green at CN Scarborough beckons VIA's three trains in one:

The combined VIA Rail trains #44 #2 #54: a k a Capital Canadian Canadien Lakeshore

On a hot humid hazy July 25, 1982 morning, Kodachrome by S.Danko

   noteworthy

   * Just like the ( 2021 planned ) continuing routing of VIA Canadian on CN lines

This is one of VIA's experiments to reduce transcontinental train costs, no twice daily Sudbury (on CP Rail) switching for the separate daily Toronto and Montreal sections: 82 83 84 the Ottawa valley trains were tri weekly Budd cars on CP Rail, Sudbury to Ottawa. By June 1, 1985 the twice daily Sudbury switching resumed on the Toronto section trains #9 and #10 and Montreal's #1 & #2.

   More three in one:

    at Geco

    at Scarborough
