March!!  When the days get longer and it is finally tolerable to spend time at length trackside. For a while back in 2006 the CN ran trains with all kinds of odd foreign power; and quite often leaders as well. It was paradise for the fans of such.
Here is one example, this image shot as the train rolled westward over York Rd; which is the main back road into Dundas from Bayview. The time is around Noon; and BNSF 4542, 4394 and WC 7495 make this appear more like a train  photographed in the USA. But it is actually Mile 2, Dundas Sub.

  1. In my younger days, I had a black and white 8X10 photo of that signal. I glued it to a piece of plywood, drilled two holes where the searchlights are and inserted green & red “grain of wheat” bulbs. Then I jerry rigged a 9 volt battery and switch to light the bulbs. It was one of those brilliant ideas younger folks have….

  2. And now we look to the closest hobby shop and buy something because we are too lazy to create any more. :o )
