I was at Canadian Tire to get a flat tire patched, and what more fortunate of timing to have a flat than when an oddball train like W900 is passing by Parkdale Yard (pretty much behind Canadian Tire) while SSRX 911 is about doing its usual thing. The W900 was a test train of sorts of seven grain hoppers from NSC, which ran from Stuart Yard to Clifton and back. This meet came together in the final seconds, with the trains arriving at their respective locations in this shot at near identical times.

  1. Nicely done.

  2. Very nice meet! So by ‘test train’, similar to the Sarnia to Garnet? Getting a feel for a new run?

  3. Brad, this was a train to test the hoppers from NSC.

  4. So what happened to 7304? Last we checked it was still there….. not being used. It’s been a while now.

  5. It’s in Sarnia. Some rumours LDS bought it. Saw someone yesterday saying it’s being rebuilt. Who knows. The only thing I can personally say with certainty is that it’s in Sarnia haha.

  6. The unit was at LDS for 10 years before it went to Hamilton. Given that LDS supplies the replacement for it I bet LDS may have owned it the entire time or had oversight over it in some way (mechanical?)

I’ve been meaning to dig into that….

  7. Yeah I agree that it’s quite likely it was owned by LDS all along. Would be curious to hear what you find.
