I enjoy taking photos that could have been taken 20-30 years ago. Today's pair of CN GP9RMs on 580 could have easily been taken 30 years ago, since 4131 was in the last batch of GP9 rebuilds, completed in 1991. Also noteworthy is the other unit in the consist, 4028, the last of the 4000's in service on CN. Unfortunately, this consist only lasted a few days. CN 4131 replaced CN 4770 late last week, and GMTX 2254 arrived in Brantford later in the afternoon to replace 4131 already. Today was the only day the pair operated in decent sunlight, so I was fortunate that 580's shove back from Normerica coincided with my work schedule. The GP9RMs look good for being 30 years old; that lead paint has sure held up!

  1. These lashups are great. Makes me not miss CP’s GP9′s as much :)

  2. Great photo. The Geeps are not the best units in road service (mainly due to overheating or failing to make transition or loading problems) but the were good in yard service. I was lucky enough to operate many of the GPrm’s right after they were rebuilt (i have a few photos somewhere ).

  3. Nice. Good looking pair. Can’t beat a Geep.
