Nice sunny mid-afternoon. Not sure of this train number; but guessing it is the "pulp train" on account a quartet of GP9s for power; and they were based at Fort Erie or Niagara Falls for the most part back then. Lashup makes for a nice scene; CN 4565, 4495, 4527 and 4571 are the numbers.
Autos in scene......my old blue Cougar, next to it (the late) Bill McArthurs chev wagon; and the little green heap I have no info on.

  1. Little green heap is right, it looks like one of those aluminum block Vegas that lasted about 5 minutes on the road before starting to burn oil. :-)
I love the consist, zebras leading with noses forward, noodles trailing with noses aimed to the rear.

  2. A classic ! I don’t remember the little orange shack when I started railfanning around ‘86. Maybe it was gone by then. As I recall, back then the pulp train was #433; a very sweet smelling train with all those logs and chips ! I also remember Bill McArthur and I’m sorry to hear that he’s passed away. He was a gentleman, for sure.

  3. Yeah, old “Wold Bill” was a gentleman of the old school, all right. Not many like him any more. Later when we moved on to the Walk Bridge he always bought food for all the woodland creatures and birds. They all miss him as well.
Bill was a memorial traveling companion as to boot; we made several trips to Kentucky to see “His” Southern Railroad before it was all NS. Good times.
