Caption: TTC PCC 4378 (an A6-class car built new for Toronto in 1946-47) pauses while on the Carlton route to let patrons off at the northeast corner stop island of College and Bay. It may look like a sunny winter afternoon, but the two ladies disembarking from the streetcar are clearly dressed for the season, and only a few windows on the 4378 are cracked open for some air. The coating of salty road grime was not kind to the TTC PCC fleet over the years, nor the CLRV and ALRV fleets that followed.
The old Central YMCA building is pictured the background, a grand old structure built in 1913 but replaced in the mid-80's by the present-day Toronto Police Headquarters at 40 College St.
