Thank goodness for the skimpiest shred of notes, a date and some info is better than zip and for wives who have kept negatives in some whatever box in the back 40 of the basement. Spare time created by viral measures allowed for these things to come together in the last few weeks. With the north end of Egremont as a backdrop, the 4607, 9175, 9194 and 9164 are taking 40 empty hoppers to Waterways. Cab 79772 is tagging along at the end. Of interest is the 9194 having black numbers on a white background, the only re-built F stenciled this way and only on this one side. Photo taken at 8:30 using Kodak 100asa film. I honestly thought these negs were goners, glad they weathered sitting in a box all this time. :-)

  1. Looks pretty good.:o) But I have to admit that leader sure looks out of place.
    Glad your negs have held up. A lot of mine haven’t. Wonder how long digital will hold up? Or will we care?

  2. Not the only time this happened. I will take a look. At around this same time, the 4607 led another ABA set on a sulphur train. Only difference, the 9175 was a different A unit.
    I did not shoot much print film, enjoyed the convenience of mailing away and getting slides back. The Kodak print film tends to be grainy (even 100asa), keeps good colour though. Only shot 1 roll of Fuji, those negs have really gone yellow, will be some work colour correcting. But my goodness, are they ever clear negatives. If I can get the colour straightened out I will post a couple for sure. Thanks Arnold. :-)

  3. There’s that 9194 with its oddball black lettering on the left side again, someone wasn’t following paint diagrams! Hard to find any close-up shots of its left side showing that off.

  4. You could check out my photo of it in Vol.20, No.1, of the CNRHA mag CN Lines. I could post a complete broadside roster photo I do believe, which, would only interest a very few people.
