While waiting, I notice the work train coming from the north and taking the siding at Egremont. It had been working in the area the last few days. This was making sense now, the 1082 was waiting for the work extra. I zip over to photo the work extra and end up talking with the brakeman. He tells me the 1082 is here to take empty flats stored on the abandoned portion of the Lac La Biche Sub. The army needs 40 to move equipment. A huge string of flats had already taken out a few weeks earlier, which would mean 1000's to reach the remaining cars on the light 60lb. rail. Well, it is off to catch up with the 1082, a rare opportunity has presented itself, to photo ex-NAR 1000's back on home rails. Here they are about 2km west of the north connecting track switch. The flanger clearance sign is for range road 221, which is just behind me. Not much further to go to couple on. In short time they had their cars and were headed back for Edmonton.
