I sure miss the autoparts train #328. It was always something to watch for. These days, though, with the communications network of the railfan, there would be no surprise left by the time it got as far as Niagara.:o)
So here we have, in appearance at least, WC 7551, CR 5336 eastbound passing the Woodstock station on a bright and early Tuesday morning. Thats WC and CR on an NS train on CN. Now I am wondering if there are any active locomotives out there still in Wisconsin Central paint. Haven't seen one in ages.
For those who take an interest, this image is from a medium format negative, not digital, not slide. Not bad.

  1. There is one or two geeps out West still in WC paint. And I believe the WLE has one or two SD’s in WV paint but patched.

  2. Thanks, Jazzy. I`ve not seen one in years.

  3. The crazy thing is we generally knew the day before what was on 327.. you didnt know what would lead back tho. I didnt go for this for reasons I do not remember. :)

  4. To follow up on what Joe said there are atleast 3 captive WC geeps in BC as well as WC 3018 in the Wisconsin/Illinois area. I believe all the wheeling SDs have since been since repainted :)

  5. Great catch for sure. There are a few ex-AC GP38s still in WC paint, 2001, 2003, 2004 come to mind. FYI the second unit is NS 5336.

  6. Matt: I kinda figured as much, but not 100% so in my caption I wrote “in appearance at least” to cover my butt as to whether the x-CR was NS or even CSX.
Steve: True on the #327, but it was often so early thru Niagara that I did not often see it.

  7. @Railfan97, WC 3018 is in Northern Alberta now, still in WC paint.

  8. So miss the 327/328 days. Always something interesting on those trains. Great shot!

  9. Well…. not always.. it was either very interesting.. or a pair of dash 9′s…

in the last few months I went out trying to get NS power at a couple key places and just couldn’t get it – it was always a pair of foreign units. Often matching. What a drag :)

  10. Thanks for sharing AWM. I went back to my archives as a 7 year old and I have a photo of these 2 in St.Thomas the day prior and previously had not known the date until now

  11. 7 ??? you were 7 ?? Heck, at 7 I was playing with my toys in the mud!! :o )
