Caption: The Guelph Junction Railway, operated by the Goderich & Exeter railway passes by locomotive 6167 in her new spot at John Galt park. On November 14th 6167 was moved from her home by the Guelph Central Station to this location by the GJR. The move was necessary due to Metrolinx's plans to expand the station. Obviously the area is still under construction, as evidenced by the safety ribbons and pylons. Eventually there will be a nice pathway around the locomotive.
Interesting note, 6167 sits directly at the site of the Priory, the first building in Guelph. Built by Guelph founder John Galt. The Priory would also serve as the first post office, and when the CPR arrived in Guelph in the 1880s, it became the CPR station. The Priory was replaced by a stone station built around 1910. This area is a highly significant area to Guelph, and its railway history. A fitting spot for 6167.

Drew, have been waiting to see this shot – 6167 in her new home right next to Q&G (GJctR) pumpkin orange. Great composition, and what a contrast. U2 and GP38, a very nice line up with no fence clutter. Thank you for posting, John
Hey John, Glad you like it. This location really is great for the locomotive. It will certainly be a lot more visible and great for photographs.
Please put her under lights and set a tall iron fence around her.

Nice. Sad though, for all the $ spent in the past decade moving this ( twice ), 6167 could have been re-built & restored to operational condition…goodness sake’s the City of Guelph even owns a 15.2 mile (main track) railway that this Northern could operate on….the re-invested $ on the re-build would be returned multiple times to the City of Guelph through tourist $, increased business activity – property tax and development ( ask the Tottenham town council), Guelph City Council are you listening?
