This rather idyllic scene appears to have 'old time' all over it. At least for me. It is a nice quiet warm Sunday morning in early May, and things are peaceful at the Fort Erie CN facility. I just happened around the back to see CN 7022 about to be turned and came up with this image. Cannot recall whether the loco had just emerged from the roundhouse but it appears so. Most of us took these scenes for granted, until it happened that the all of a sudden we noticed; hey, the turntables and roundhouses (as well as MoW sheds, trackside phones) and all the rest of it have disappeared along with the personal side of railroading.
I cannot remember when the r'house and table were closed down. Probably early '80s.

  1. Nice

  2. Are there any active roundtables still in use. A Heritage rail would be fun to have one. Is there one at the Toronto museum? i’ve never been there having lived here for some time. Shameful. ;) What about the covered one in Hornepayne? Derelict now? Very once again Mr Mooney!
