Westbound CN# 2027, a Montreal 1967 built MLW C-630M,

 leads sisters 2324 & 2021, both MLW builds ( M-636 built 1971 & C-630M built 1968 ) onto the Canso Causeway.

At Port Hastings, Cape Breton, N S., August 11, 1982 Kodak Plus X by S. Danko

 What's Interesting:

Railway operations on the Cape Breton section of the CB&CNSR were discontinued 2015.

It is possible that in the future you may have an opportunity to capture rail traffic on the Canso Causeway

Novaporte - a planned Canadian new build container Mega-Terminal to be located in Sydney - requires the Cape Breton railway to be fully functional prior to construction commencing on the planned container terminal.

Novaporte is awaiting the outcome of discussions between the Provincial Government and the new owner of the Genesee & Wyoming, owner and operator of the Cape Breton & Central Nova Scotia Railway .

On December 3, 2019 Brookfield Asset Management (BAM – TSX) purchased the G & W
