With its original post rebuild number boards, CN 4102 paired with 4725 switches out the west end of Kitchener as 568 setting up cars to go down the Huron Park Spur for Ampacet and CP. The new signal set on the right (another on the left blocked by 568) guards the new crossover that’ll be put between Lancaster and St Leger Streets that will be used by GO when needed and also to prevent west bound movements to the Huron Park Spur from pulling all the way to the single track at Kitchener West, shoving back to the switch then pulling down the Huron Park as there is no crossover from north to south between Kitchener West and the yard. The crossover is now in place at the moment, but I don’t think it’s in service yet. This is 4102’s first run at Kitchener since the CN takeover 2 years ago and it is the gloomiest time of the year unfortunately so getting anything in perfect sun this time of the year is decently tricky. If I recall correctly, there hasn’t been more than 5 perfectly sunny days since this shot so I was pleased with the result including the threatening sky in the background from the last night’s rain. As I type this though, Mr Sun is trying to tell me something as it just came out of the clouds...
