I don't shoot the Halton Sub much - I think this was only my fourth or fifth time. I was actually heading up to Georgetown in the hopes of catching a different cowl leading - crossing my fingers that a 570 would run from Aldershot to Mac, knowing that if it did, 2451 would be on point. When I got there I heard "2441 west" nearby and all my plans changed. I ventured over to Stewarttown first, but lost out to the clouds there. Needless to say, the chase was on from there. With my day off I ended up following this train all the way to Port Rob. The third unit was dropped in Hamilton for 555 power later that night, and neither 2441 or 2108 (second unit) are allowed to lead into the US on 531 or 539 because of a lack of PTC. 3031 was already in Port Rob and was assigned to 531 solo that day. Another GEVO already in Port Rob as well was placed in front of 2441 for that evening's 539. The 2108 went out solo on the local transfers to CP and Trillium on 562.

  4. @Larry and Jason, thanks guys. I managed to shoot it here, in Hamilton, Niagara Falls (once they turned south), and in Port Rob. Handy chase, I came home for an hour and a half to have lunch and relax while they worked Aldershot and Hamilton. Went back out shortly before they were ready to depart Hamilton. :)

    @Brad, you get used to it pretty quickly after seeing it. 531/530 (transfer to/from NS, transfer to/from BPRR and transfer of CSX intermodal) and 539/538 (transfer to CSX incl. lifting intermodal) are typically fairly big trains and you wouldn’t expect to see anything but six axle power on them. 562 can have some fairly large trains for Southern/Feeder, and it’s really only a novelty to have the six axle power for the Humberstone or perhaps the switch for Oleo in the Falls. 564 is the other ID in Port Rob (night crew) and they usually build 422 and switch out Oxy Vinyls (which is perhaps somewhat novel to have six axle units doing).

  5. Sorry, I forgot one of the other novel six-axle movements down that way. The 53x trains (typically 539 I am told) occasionally switch out the lumber yard in Fort Erie.
