Caption: GO Transit GP40-2W 709 trails an inbound commuter train of three bilevels and an APCU (F-unit converted into a cab car/HEP car) heading to Union Station in downtown Toronto, passing by VIA's former CN Spadina coachyard at Bathurst Street. The 1980's were a transition period for Toronto's old steam-era rail facilities downtown, as the VIA (former CN) Spadina Roundhouse and coachyard would both soon close and move to new facilities in Mimico, and the lands here would be cleared for redevelopment, including for the future Skydome (presently the Rogers Centre). The old CN freight yards at Bathurst Street (on the left) have been converted for storing GO trains, and the new flyunder between Bathurst Street and Spadina Avenue (behind the train) has been completed.
