Caption: As this is posted, we are in the midst of a heat wave in southern Ontario...so let's try to "cool things off" with a "cool shot" from January 1977. This morning's train from Windsor has an interesting consist--CN GP40 4017 (geared for passenger service), borrowed GO Transit APCU (auxiliary power control unit) 901, and Tempo coaches! Renumbered to 9317, the GP40 was used in VIA passenger service into the mid-1980s, the ACPU units--many rebuilt from Ontario Northland FP7s--were in GO service into the mid-1990s, and most of the Tempo cars were retired by VIA and sold in 1987 (a few hung on into 1990).
