Caption: Of the numerous times that I have passed by Kinder Morgan, this is the one instance where their switcher was off the shop track and in a place where taking a photo had no obstructions in the way. The fence being the worst for getting in the picture. Only a handful of times have I seen the 9022 started up and making a move. On this day it is pulling a small string of tanks, 10 or so, and working hard at the task. I cannot imagine when or how extra cars become available. The unit trains sure do seem to remain intact during their stay at the loading facility. RSSX 9022 is a former SW9, it appears that it went for rebuilding sometime in 2014. There are several internet pictures from 2015 showing it in transit to Edmonton. As already mentioned, it has spent most of those 5 years sitting out in the back 40, not the best second life scenario.

Catching company switchers in action can be challenging at best. This is nice.
Thanks Arnold.
I now identify very well when you fellows make comments about how tough it can be to catch a photo of plant critters. This photo here is pure luck of driving by and finding the 9022 out and working. Otherwise, it is a daunting task of close surveillance and time spent so that you tip the odds in your favour of getting a photo. Just a couple of weeks before taking this shot, I walked over to the security shack at the gate to ask about permission to go and take a picture. A firm NO and from the public road only. They don’t even want to see you by the fence.
Great catch, I didn’t know this thing ever moved !
It even has people ride on it. LOL
