Caption: Eventually after CN’s return to the Guelph Subdivision in November 2018 they took a section of the siding in Kitchener out of service, right at the switch with the Waterloo Spur including the remaining length westward from there to nearby Kitchener West. For the majority of 2019 until the fall, this meant that occasionally if CN L568 was using the crossovers near Margaret Avenue to come out on the main, they would be then required to use a portion of the Waterloo Spur to complete this move for the additional head-end room required. They would then reverse from the spur back through the crossovers and out onto the mainline before proceeding westbound towards Stratford. Also, due to the operating curfew on the Waterloo Spur since the LRT/ION operations commenced in summer 2019, CN is only allowed to proceed on the shared LRT/ION portion of the line in Waterloo from 23:00-04:00 to reach Elmira. So, any daylight movements on the spur can only occur on this section from Kitchener to William Street in Uptown Waterloo. Here, CN L568 with 4784 and 7025 make a brief appearance on the spur at Ahrens Street in Kitchener as they pause near some houses before reversing back onto the mainline.
