Caption: One of OSR’s RS18u’s no. 182 takes GJR’s daily job from CP’s Guelph Junction to North Guelph with cars for the North Guelph Spur and interchange with CN. Near the end of June / start of July, OSR is backing out of supplying GJR horsepower meaning a new operator is in search. So I guess it’s safe to say once that time hits, MLW smoke shows in the heart of downtown Guelph will be a thing of the past. Here, both MLW built 182 & 505 are smoking away taking a small tonnage of train through Downtown Guelph along Cardigan Street. The snow melted by the time he was done switching out the siding in Arkell and PDI east of York Road but you can still see all the snow on the windshields of the cars parked along Cardigan. As I type this now, 6 hours after this was shot, there is not a spec of snow on the ground and the scene outside certainly feels and looks like spring which is clearly not the condition in the photo. Weather is truly wack right now.

Great shot!
It seems that Ontario Southland is downsizing. No more Cayuga runs and now not Guelph. Thanks for this. Love the RS18u’s!
