Caption: Another piece of equipment on display at the Elgin County Railway Museum during their Railway Days was their restored Grand Trunk Western caboose, tucked away inside the museum's old Michigan Central RR shop building.
GTW 77137 was originally built as Chicago & Grand Trunk 90724 by the GTR's Port Huron shops in 1891. The Canadian Trackside Guide shows it as donated and residing at the Bayview Museum in Sarnia from 1964-1974. It was reloacted to the Canadian Railroad Historical Association (Toronto & York Division) Canadian Railway Museum on the harbourfront in downtown Toronto near Queen's Quay and Bathurst, that opened in May 1975. When the harbourfront railway lines were removed from that area in the mid-late 80's, the equipment was removed and stored nearby in 1987 (some pieces found other homes, others were damaged by vandals, some were scrapped). The caboose was then moved to the Smiths Falls Railway Museum from 1990-1998 under private ownership, and eventually to the ECRM in St. Thomas where it resides today.
