CP S-2 yard engine 7090 drags a cut of cars across Elm Street in downtown Sudbury on an extremely drab February 1970 afternoon. No fluffy white Christmas card snow in this picture, just the stark reality of what winter in Northern Ontario really looks like.

  1. I’d guess that switcher hung around a long time in the Sudbury area. I have photos of it, albeit sporting red paint, in Parry Sound, May ’77. Interesting setting for your shot. No lack of advertising next door!!

  2. Sudbury had the same three S-2s switchers for what seemed like decades: 7090, 7091, and 7092. Thanks for the comment.
