Fond memories of more carefree times. The end of my day shift always meant checking the status of GEXR 431 and hopefully heading out on a quick chase before going home. It was also a sad time knowing that the Goderich Exeter only had a few months before retrenching itself back into its former self when it's trackage didn't extend further east then Stratford. At that time most freight operations over the east end of the Guelph subdivision would become nocturnal. A friendly wave from the head end crew was nothing uncommon, most were always friendly. I miss 3054 "Canada's tunnel motor", happily it is alive and well today on the Buffalo Pittsburgh, now repainted back into full SP paint and still carrying GEXR reporting marks.

  1. SD45T-2, my favourite freight locomotive of all time! Luckily I did get to run one, just not the GEXR unit.

  2. A fascinating unit that never seemed to die….a fan favourite, but better suited for TRAIL only!!

  3. Miss these daylight trains on the Guelph Sub. Great shot Marcus!
