While not as successful as some documenting the CN detours over the Ontario Northland, I did manage to shoot a slightly overcast meet between ONT 313 and detour I912 in Kapuskasing. Here I912, a 81 platform intermodal train led by CN engines 2605 and 2598, holds the main and waits for 313 to take the siding. Once clear, I912 would continue eastwards and 313 would work the yard before proceeding to Hearst.

  1. Hey Craig, I would say very successful ! How often do you see ONR diesels meeting CN diesel units hauling a container train on ONR track that was CN’s and part of the old NTR in Kapuskasing ? Will we ever see this again ? And very colourful! Very nice picture. Is the former CN passenger still standing ? Thanks for sharing.

  2. Thanks, railwayguy, I appreciate the comments. And yes, the station is still standing.
