With a nod to Mitchell Gault’s evocative image, VIA F40PH-2D No. 6444 is shown gliding to a stop at St. Marys Ontario. Compare the foliage growth that has occurred over the intervening twenty-two years along with the renewed Station Sign. Tragically, No. 6444 would be involved in a lethal derailment east of Aldershot Ontario on February 26th 2012 and be removed from the roster the following year.

    Is that white stuff icing sugar? We’ve seen very little snow over the past couple of years. It falls and then melts.

    @Driver8666: This past winter averaged above freezing – that’s why; it was just too mild for any snow to stick around. Basically anywhere SW of Toronto the snow didn’t stick around.
