Northern-Type #6167 was built in 1940 and served as Canadian National’s steam ambassador from 1960 to 1964. Photographer Del Rosamond didn’t date this large format slide but did record that it was captured in Lindsay, Ontario. Internet research shows two UCRS excursions to Lindsay – one on 07/09/61 and the other on 06/20/64. I’ve guessed the date of this image to be the latter.     Great Photo! Could that possibly be Peterborough? Maybe along Bethune street where the station used to be.

    Thank heavens she made it into preservation, although her current state of protection is not good. It would be great to see 6167 brought back, but between CN’s current financial straits and the Covid pandemic, I guess it’s more like wishing on a fairy tale. Mr. Rosamund’s work is wonderful to review and enjoy in modern, difficult times.

    Thank you, Chris, for your comment. Interestingly, there is another slide in the series that is marked “Peterborough”. I plan to upload that photo in the near future. If someone is able to confirm the location of this image then I’ll ask the site’s editors to make the correction.

    The Guelph Museums website had this to say about the future of 6167…

    “The lease for the current site of Locomotive 6167 on Metrolinx property ends December 15, 2020. During the 2020 budget process, Guelph City Council approved $650,000 to move 6167 to a new, permanent home. The locomotive will be moved to John Galt Park, adjacent to the River Run Centre on Woolwich Street, in Autumn 2020.”

    Confirmed…. It is Peterboro (the correcy GTR spelling of the city name)
