Yesterday I was out fanning in Leaside trying to catch as much of the backlogged intermodal trains as I could. I checked my phone at around 4:30 and figured out there was a solo BNSF dash 9 leading empty grain train 331 which had departed Smiths Falls at 1:30pm that day. I knew there would be a high chance it stops in Toronto Yard, maybe even gets a CP leader shoved on it, so we set out for somewhere east of Agincourt. I found the Reesor Road crossing on the map, a street which has both the CN York and CP Belleville cross it at track level, making the street a pretty good railfan spot, provided you have a car. Minutes after arrival, the sound of a K5HL horn fills the atmosphere, and with no more than 10 minutes of light left in the spot, the train made its appearance. This definitely has to be one of my favourite catches of the year so far, and the first time I haven’t felt the need to edit a shot in a while.
