Caption: A rather healthy looking CN 6060 excursion for a Wednesday, it appears. This was a most appreciated train ride while it lasted. It is a pity the Ontario government took no interest in this "gift horse" looking them in the eye when it came to the promotion of tourist business in the GTA. Alas, it is long gone.
The view is from the Victoria Av bridge, capturing the train as it is within a half mile or so of arrival at the Niagara Falls station.
On the right one can see part of the once busy NF CN yard, (now a source of weeds) and CN Geeps 4592 and 4598 moving around a cut of cars.
Almost out of sight on the left are the regularly scheduled CN Budds, passenger service of the day, another fine idea laid to rest by the wasteful bureaucrats of our day.
Rounding it out, the Cyanamid plant in the background is history. Nothing left.

Mr. Mooney, beautiful picture of a beautiful locomotive ! Not too many overhead pictures with nice lighting, and neat touch having a the RDC’s peaking out behind the 6th & 7th coaches. Completely agree with your comments, The Province finally recognized the tourist value of running weekend GO bike trains to the Falls. Just too bad they didn’t invest in the 6060 for the same purpose. How the landscape has changed, the Cyanamide plant gone as well as the CN freight yard and the neat double track right-of-way. The 2nd track is today covered in weeds, but the good news is that GO trains operate 3-times a day on weekends, or will be again after convid-19 ends. Thanks again.
Thank you for the commentary. It reminds me of all that once was, now considered ‘nasty’. That stinking chemical plant, the fact everything was heated by coal; every other house had a coal shute; the air was dirty…and so on. We clean it all up over the years and NOW the people start whining about cleaning up the environment? Glad these people did not see industry and railroading in the ’50s.
