Reportedly SOO 4410 was set off yesterday bad order at Lambton, apparently it was one of the other units there that was having issues, which created this long hood forward set up today for the trip back home from Streetsville. The train was also lacking an end of train device, which restricted it to 15mph all the way home.

  1. Wow! This is really great Marcus. You must have felt some excitement catching this as it went by. :-)

  2. The Soo 4410 was recently used on the Havelock job. What’s it doing out of Lambton? I’ve seen another Soo working Streetsville. No EOT? And long hood forward? Great catch!

  3. What a great catch! The 4410 has been floating around the area since late last year at least – it was in the Cambridge area for a while, then out in the Welland area for a brief stint, Havelock Sub then the Toronto area. I heard it’s been having issues.

  4. The hogger must have loved this. (/Sarcasm)

  5. Hopefully those issues were resolved when it got the work it was receiving as shown in Paul Santos’ recent shot of it.

  6. I just checked Pauls photo Jamie and it is dated Feb. 3rd. Looks like there are few more things to attend and fix up a week later. He mentions just changing an exhaust gasket. Possibly, guessing here, they knew there were other issues and were waiting for whatever to fail/break before engaging a larger repair.
If we are lucky, Paul will be able to bring us up to speed. :-)

  7. Nice catch Marcus! Sorry guys, haven’t heard anything new on the 4410 yet…
