It never fails to amaze me that all of this is gone. Even the Royal York is literally buried in condo towers and office buildings. This just does not seem all that long ago………..

Wonder why MLW locomotives for Mexico ended up there?
That’s a good question. I have a slide here of FCP 651 and 652 posed together at CN’s MacMillan (Toronto) Yard taken the same month/year.
You’d think they’d skip Spadina roundhouse on their trip enroute to the US/Mexico.
I remember these being shipped and the only reason I can figure they’d be downtown, is the financing wasn’t yet completed so they might’ve been stored temporarily.
497 still ran ( Toronto-Sarnia via the Bala Sub etc) so he could easily lift these when they were released, either at the Don, or at Bathurst.
